At 3.30 pm on March 29, Dr. Ma Yulei and the other four teachers from Graduate College English Division from Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited the department of Foreign Languages and exchanged ideas on English teaching with the teachers from the department of Foreign Languages. Prof. Peng Gong, Dean of the Foreign Languages Department, chaired the meeting. Prof. Liu Bin (Deputy Dean), Prof. Gao Yuan (Deputy Dean), and Prof. Guo Jian (in charge of the English C Program), and Chen Jin (teaching secretary) participated in this meeting.
Firstly, Prof. Peng Gong welcomed the arrival of the exchange group from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and introduced the background, teaching target, evaluation system, appraisal system, teaching material, and classroom equipment of English teaching in Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The teachers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University were very interested in Prof. Peng’s introduction and asked many questions and exchanged their views with the teachers from the Foreign Languages Department. The teachers said that since Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences were both universities of science and engineering, the two universities faced the same kind of difficulties in English teaching. Therefore, the exchange meeting between the two universities had very important influence in English teaching and would contribute significantly to non-English major teaching at master and doctor levels.
The exchange group from Shanghai Jiao Tong Univeristy also invited the teachers from the Foreign Languages Department to visit Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Foreign Languages Department expressed gratitude and wished that the two universities would continue to communicate and cooperate, to provide better service to graduate English teaching.
